Arkdale is a tiny town located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 201 people and two associated neighborhoods, Arkdale is the 502nd largest community in Wisconsin.Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Arkdale is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Arkdale is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Arkdale who work in sales jobs (24.56%), management occupations (14.04%), and maintenance occupations (7.02%). Also of interest is that Arkdale has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 9.26% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes. Another notable thing is that Arkdale is an extremely popular vacation destination. A significant portion of the population is seasonal. During the vacation season, the town experiences a large influx of people who take up residence in second homes they own in the area. As the vacation season ends, the population drops again, leaving behind a substantially quieter and smaller town. Overall, Arkdale’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern. It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Arkdale has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Arkdale has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Arkdale than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Arkdale may be for you. One downside of living in Arkdale is that it can take a long time to commute to work. Being a small town, Arkdale does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.In terms of college education, Arkdale is substantially better educated than the typical community in the nation, which has 21.84% of the adults holding a bachelor's degree or graduate degree: 33.13% of adults in Arkdale have a college degree. The per capita income in Arkdale in 2022 was $38,740, which is upper middle income relative to Wisconsin and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $154,960 for a family of four.
